Born in 1955 to Eslie and Doris Embry in Ashland, Kentucky, Mike was raised in Louisville and graduated from Stuart High School. He attended Western Kentucky University and served in the US Army before a long career with Nokia from which he retired in 2016.
Mike was a family man who lived his life for others. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Veeda Adams; children Michea Dicken (Charlie) and Jake Embry (Jamie); grandchildren Grace, Henry and Charley Rose Dicken; and Esley, Cody and Monroe Embry. He is also survived by sisters Joyce Sergeant (Don) and Harriett Hillenmeyer, a large extended family to many of whom he was “Uncle Mike” as well as many dear friends including his lifelong buddy, David Cassidy. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and beloved children Cody Donovan and Kelsey Victoria.
Proud of his Morgantown, Kentucky heritage and steadfast in his faith, Mike saw the best in everyone. Memories of him as a role model, loyal friend and coach are cherished by many. He was also a builder and fixer of things, big and small, who always had a project going. He loved the sunshine, especially during kids’ ball games and trips to Florida which he was able to enjoy until his final weeks. He brought this sunshine to everyone he encountered. Above all, Mike is remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Mike’s family would like to express their gratitude for the services and staff of Hosparus Health and the many visits and care from others.
