I, Melvin Lee White, have entered eternal life April 21st, 2022 at the age of 81. I am survived by my loving wife Valeria (Crockett) White. The Lord blessed us with 60 years of marriage, three sons, one daughter, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Lee White, (Matthew (Kaoru), Liam, Aliza and Seilah) and Max; Valerie Neat (Zeke, Ava and Jake); Mark White (Kris), Abbie, Mason and Brady; Michael White (Tara), Olivia; sister in-law, Beverly White and two nieces, Cathy and Laura.
I was preceded in death by my parents O.D. White and Idella White, my infant son Willian White, my brother Bob White and my nephew Doug White. Our family served families at the O.D. White Funeral Home for over 70 years. I served as Owner, Funeral Director, Embalmer and I pray that I was compassionate to those in need.
God gave myself and the other Christian founders the Vision for the Christian Academy of Louisville. Working with these faithful Christians, that vision was fulfilled beyond belief. God also blessed me as Minister of Marysville Christian Church in Indiana for 27 years. I enjoyed serving at White Mills Christian Camp, Kentuckiana Christian Mission, other churches and community organizations and was a member of Suburban Lodge 740 for 60 years.
I graduated from DuPont Manual High School 1958, attended UofL, graduated from KY School of Mortuary Science, and graduate of Louisville Bible College 1974. Basketball was a passion of mine, attending the KY Boys State Tournament for 60 years and I enjoyed every game to the last basket!
My greatest joy in life was my family! God blessed us with a loving family and church families. Growing up at South Louisville Christian Church gave me the blessing of serving God in church and in work.
Please consider donations to my schools, churches and camps.
