Mary Elizabeth “Toots” Strange, 88 was called home on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. Toots was born and raised in Louisville, KY to Charles and Lizzie Isenberg. Proud graduate of Valley High School, she went on to become a devoted wife and homemaker. Toots also held a secretarial position at St. Lawrence Catholic Church and cafeteria position at Angela Merici High School. Married to James E. “Harvey” Strange for 41 years, they raised a beautiful family and enjoyed as much time together as possible at their camp at Rough River. Toots was a lover of golf, bowling, and fishing and enjoyed watching and talking sports especially her “Cubbies”, and she was a member of the American Legion Post 220. Toots was truly the matriarch of the Strange family and will be deeply missed and fondly remembered especially on Wednesday’s, her day, the day known simply as, “Grandma Day”.
Toots is preceded in death by her loving husband, James E. “Harvey” Strange and son-in-law Steve Silliman. She leaves to cherish her memory her children Lois Rothgerber (Dave), Charlotte Silliman, Mary Eichberger (John), Ginny Scott (Sammy), James Strange, Jr. (Evelyn), Marty Stuecker (Joe), and Barbara Beswick (Bud); 17 adoring grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be Friday April 6th at 10:00am at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, with interment to follow at St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Visitation for the public will be Thursday from 12-8pm and Friday 9-10am.
There will be a celebration of Toots life after the graveside service at the funeral home.
