Mary Jo Singer (nee Livers), 78, of Louisville, KY, died peacefully Friday, January 4, 2019 with her beloved husband, Raymond T. Singer, at her side. Mary Jo was the loving daughter of the late Mary Langford Livers (nee Geoghegan) and Joseph Alfred Livers, Sr., and stepdaughter to the late Mildred Livers and Ona Livers. She will be honored and greatly missed by her children, to whom she was devoted: Kevin Singer, Jeana James, and Lisa Mivelaz; and by those she loved like her own: Sheila Singer, Steve James, Roger Heflin, and Jimmie Mivelaz. Mary Jo also deeply loved and delighted in her grandchildren, Heather Bieckert (Chris), Caleb James (Manelle), Levi James (Kourtney), Joshua James (Rebekah), Rachel Gouge (Paul), Mason Mivelaz, Cameron Singer, and Jordan Bieckert and great-grandchildren, Tanner and Skyler Bohn, Kingston James, Averie Gouge, Willow Bohn, Jaxson and Vivian James.
Mary Jo was the dear sister of Doris Allen (John), Bill Sutherland (Nadine), Rosemary Sutherland, Dorothy Durning (Bob), Myrna Gilkey, Joan Crosthwait (Kent), Paulette Livers (David Kirsh), Kathy Daley (Joe), Michael Livers (Ellen), and Lorri Houck (Rusty). She was preceded in death by her loving brothers and sisters Carolyn Mattingly, Billy Livers, Joseph A. “Fred” Livers, Jr., Anne Lawrence and Norma Albert. Mary Jo was a dear sister-in-law of Philip Mattingly, Joyce Livers, Chris Livers, John Lawrence and Bob Albert. She was a wonderful niece, aunt, cousin and friend to many.
Mary Jo grew up in and around Bardstown, KY, and was a school teacher like her mother. She enjoyed playing music on her organ, crosswords, gardening, reading, and poetry, among other things. Most of all, Mary Jo loved Ray and her family.
Mrs. Singer’s funeral will be held at noon on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in the chapel of Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway in Louisville, KY. with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be from 3-8pm on Monday and Tuesday.
