Marianne (Smith) Taylor Markert was born on September 20, 1929, in Springfield, Illinois to the late John O. and Lucy Mitchell Smith. She departed this life Friday, December 1, 2023 at her daughter’s home in Bowling Green, Ky.
She was a lady of deep faith and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shelbyville, Ky.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Emmett M. Taylor, two brothers, Owsley Smith and Harold Smith and a sister, Catherine Wheeler.
She is survived by her husband, William Markert; four children Dianne T. Staggs (Robert), Emmett Grayson Taylor (Janet), Carolyn T. Greer (James), Lucinda T. Graham (C. E.), two step children, Jan Miles (Bill) and Susie Remfry (Tony), nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one brother, David Smith (Kay), sister-in-law, Winona Smith, cousins, nieces, nephews and many other special family members.
Funeral services for Marianne (Smith) Taylor Markert will be conducted Wednesday, December 6, at 2 pm Eastern Standard Time at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville Ky, with Pastor Steve Delashmit officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 pm the day of the service. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: C. E. Graham, Christopher Graham, James T. Greer, Clint Staggs, Geoff Greenawalt and Drew Greenawalt.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be donations to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society or Bowling Green Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
