Margaret Young Copeland Jarvie Carter was born March 13, 1930, to John and Elizabeth Jarvie; in Falkirk, Scotland. She peacefully departed from her loved ones on April 17, 2023, in the wee hours of the morning.
Margaret matriculated through Polmont School and at twenty left home for a world adventure. She met and married her future husband, Ken Carter, on September 27, 1950.
She loved her family, valued her friendships, good books, her cup of scalding hot tea, and adored shopping for clothes. After raising her children, she became a professional personal shopper for a national department store until her retirement.
Margaret was fun-loving, an avid reader, a story teller, life of the party, and a bit of a jokester inside the family, often poking fun at herself. She was our beacon of light and will be sorely missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Jarvie, siblings John, William, and Albert Jarvie, Mable Brice, Eva Williams, Elizabeth Scofield and Edith Chisholm.
Margaret Carter is survived by her husband of 73 years, Ken Carter, three children, Beverly Carter (and Mark) Hoistad, Bonnie Carter Allison and W. Stuart Carter. Her grandchildren include Julie, Jillian, Erin, Eric and Ashley; great-grandchildren Tyler, Logan, Kingston, Ryleigh, Luke, Carter, Grace, Evie, Elsie, Walt, Jeremie, Hannah, Donovan, and Cullen, and her first great-great grandchild, Graham.
A funeral service for Margaret will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home (4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218). Following the funeral service will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM in Resthaven Memorial Park.
