He was a retired supervisor for Ford Motor Company, a member of St. Matthews Methodist Church and also the Local UAW. He had served his country during World War II and the Korean War in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tilmen and Carrie Hatfield.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Hatfield; a stepdaughter, Dawn Carol Hunter; brother, Holmes Hatfield; a sister, Chris Busroe; a grandson, George Michael Hunter Sr. and great-grandchildren, Brittney and George Michael Hunter Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
His Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at noon at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday.
