He was born April 30, 1932 in Louisville, the son of the late Louis H. and Jennie (Westrick) Liebert, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Doris (nee Liebert) Sheehan and Jo Ann (nee Liebert) Nevins, brother-in-law George Sheehan, niece Eileen Sheehan, and grand-niece Molly Sheehan.
Louis was a 1950 graduate of St. Xavier High School, and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the troop transport ship U.S.S. Mann during the Korean War. He was a Custom Framer and worked at Frank J. Bimmerle Picture Frames over 40 years. Louis was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Louisville, KY.
Louis was a good brother, uncle, great uncle, and neighbor. He was a gentle, kind, quiet, good-natured man. Some of his favorite pastimes included: watching "Hee-Haw" and westerns; going to the movie theater; tomato gardening, and sharing his bounty with family and neighbors; listening to country music, particularly Dolly Parton; and attending weekly social dances. He was also a vast collector of alleyway discards, repairing and repurposing many useful items.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, Richard Nevins of Libertyville, IL; and the following nieces and nephews: Diana Nevins of Omaha, NE; Edward Nevins of Phoenix, AZ; Maureen Sheehan of Westfield, IN; Terri (Richard) Strouse of Indianapolis, IN; Michael Sheehan of Westfield, IN; and Carol (Sam) Pogoni of Westfield, IN.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1406 E. Washington St. Louisville, KY. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, July 24 at Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave., Louisville, KY.
