Joyce Laverne Slaten, a beacon of gentle warmth and thoughtful passion, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Born on April 3, 1947, also in Louisville, Joyce's life was a testament to love, care, and the beauty of simple joys.
Preceded in death by her husband of 52 years John Slaten.
Joyce's legacy is carried on by her loving daughters, Kimberly Slaten and Natalie Slaten, and her cherished grandchildren, Joshua Slaten, Erica Grayson, Alex Grayson, and her adored great-grandson, Jacob Slaten. A skilled beautician by profession, Joyce touched the lives of many with her compassionate spirit and her innate ability to make everyone she met feel special.
Her life was a portrait of the passion she brought to her work and the associations she was a part of. Joyce will be remembered as a person who lived with intention, whose gentle presence was a comfort, and whose thoughtfulness knew no bounds. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A visitation will be held at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home 4400 Bardstown Road Louisville, Kentucky 40218 on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 5PM to 7PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 12PM. Joyce will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to Breast Cancer Research Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
