Josh Davidson entered eternal life on July 26, 2023 at the age of 38. He was born Joshua Douglas Davidson on November 4, 1984 in Louisville, Kentucky. Josh was a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ.
Josh is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Joseph and Doris Davidson; his maternal grandmother Shirley G. Baker (Douglas) and his paternal cousin Matt Davidson (Ashley). Members of this very close family left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Jillian Davidson; his father Joey Davidson (Pat); his mother Karen Arndt (Stuart); his brother Raef Davidson; his grandfather Douglas Baker; his maternal aunt Cheryl Dunn (Buddy); his maternal cousins Meghan Hall (Todd) and Shelby Million; his paternal uncle Ron Davidson (Lynette), their son Luke Davidson (Kathleen) and their five children; his cousin Matt’s wife Ashley and her three children; along with many friends and work associates.
Josh began his faith journey early and grew up following family members as they served in church. He was baptized at eight years old and became a member of Southeast Christian Church in his teens. He was honored to serve as a Decision Guide for the Billy Graham Crusade held in Louisville in 2001. Josh found his joy in being kind. He gave to others as he was able. He welcomed those in need into his home. And at the neighborhood store, he was known and liked by all.
Josh graduated from the Brown School where he participated in jazz band and the pep band playing either saxophone or bass guitar. He attended University of Kentucky.
Josh had a deep love of nature, hiking, camping and rappelling. One summer he backpacked a large section of the Appalachian Trail, and he regularly visited Red River Gorge for rock climbing. Josh also enjoyed identifying plants, remembering each specific botanical name, and then cultivating some of his favorites indoors.
In his chosen field of information technology, Josh gained a reputation for quick diagnostic skills. He became the go-to person to repair or refurbish just about any difficult hardware/software problem. And Josh always used his interactions with co-workers and clients as an opportunity to be the face of Christ in the workplace.
Throughout his life, Josh loved reading all kinds of books. And as a fast reader, he could consume them quickly. He made it a point to thoroughly read up on any new interest – so his personal education never stopped.
A visitation for Joshua will be held Sunday, July 30, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home (4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218).
