Joseph Clellan "Joe" Malone

Joe was born on April 1, 1935 in Raywick, Marion County, KY, the ninth of eleven children born to Alfred and Abigail Malone (née Benningfield). He grew up playing multiple sports. Joe graduated from Bellarmine College with a degree in History and excelled in track and baseball. In 1969 he founded Falls City Placement, an executive search and placement firm whose motto is, “Improving Your Future is Our Business.”

In the 1970’s, Joe was active as chair of the Kentucky State Advisory Council responsible for licensing and regulation of Private Employment Services and home health care facilities. In 1982 he was inducted into the Bellarmine Athletics Hall of Fame for baseball. Two sons joined the firm in the ‘90s and the company has grown into a Top 50 US staffing company, Malone Workforce Solutions.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Malone, and son Michael ODell: mother of his children, Mary Catherine Evers, with whom he had four sons; Chris (Laurie), Tim (Denise), Terry (Paula), Ted (Anne). He enjoyed sharing time with his many beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings are Johnny (Rita), Aretha (Tommy), and Wanda (Mike) and his mother-in-law, Deloris Lind. Dearly departed siblings are Harold, Sister Alfreda, Elma, Dorothy, Agnita, Judy and Geneva. He also loved his beloved pets, Max the Puggle and three cats, Socks, Little Bit and Patrick.

Visitation will be Monday March 1, 2021 from 4-7 pm, at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 10 am at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 1395 Girard Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40222 followed by private family burial at Cave Hill Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held post-Covid, details to follow.
