Johnny was born on May 31, 1952 in Louisville to the late Samuel and Mary “Weegie” Simpson. He played football for U of L from 1970-1974 and then went on to play professionally for the Montreal Alouettes. Johnny was a member of the Sigma Alpha Mu “The Sammy’s” Fraternity, the L Club, worked for Greyhound for 12 years and retired as a Project Manager for Argus Contracting. He will always be remembered for his larger than life personality, always being there when you needed him; he will truly be missed by all.
Along with his parents, his son, Daniel and siblings, Janice Belli and Doug Simpson have preceded him in death. Here to carry on his memory are his wife, Dianne Humphrey Simpson; children, Johnny Simpson Jr. and Katie Simpson (Andrea); siblings, Linda Daniels and Samuel Simpson; numerous nieces and nephews and so many friends.
Visitation will be from 2-8pm on Friday, November 16th at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. A celebration of Johnny’s life will take place at 10am on Saturday, November 17th at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
