John Benjamin Jessee Sr.

John is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Breeden Jessee; children, Charles Wayne (Jana), Gayle Fenton (John), Sharron Neuling (Robert), Penny Polston (Steve), John B. Jr. (Sara); 24 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and a sister, Edra Nell Collins.

John is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Joanna Sterk, a granddaughter, Sharon Michelle Davis, and great-granddaughter, Emilia Fenton, two brothers, Eulis Jessie and Charles Jessee; and three sisters, Kizzie Gilpin, Arlene Jessee and Ruth Wade.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His love for Jesus was evident in the way he lived his life. He was an avid supporter of his church and missions.

John worked at DuPont and retired after 42 years. He was a member of Shawnee Baptist Church.

His funeral will be on Friday, July 24, 2020, at 12 noon at his church, 2214 Bank Street, with interment following in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be at the church from 10am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Shawnee Baptist Church or Hosparus of Louisville.
