My Condolences,
I have honor and privilege to say that John and I were on the worst boys basketball teams ever at St. Agnes. However, John's nickname was "Johnny Patrick jumping out of the gym Hagan." At least once a game john would get mad and hang on the ring to rally our sorry team.It never helped but always such a hoot. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

John Patrick shared his name with my father so I have remembered him as a child growing up in the neighborhood.  We are so very sorry to learn of his death.  God bless you all.

My final memory of you will linger.  You were so courageous to get on that stage after the chatter began again at the open mic.  Everyone stopped and time did as well.  Your energy lit up a room with smiles and curiosity.  Your poems are manicured bits of wisdom you learned and shared with us.  Thanks for sharing and being in my life, John.  You are sorely missed.

It seems silly to try to sum you up in a just a few words- I can't do it. Your poems may have been only a handful of words each, but you were so much more than what I can write down in a little paragraph. Our friendship spanned over ten years but I will keep it in my heart always. Thank you for all the laughs, conversations and adventures. You will be missed more than you'll ever know.

though i only knew you for a couple years, you were sincere and without regret.  your smile and your open mindedness are missed.  i wish you peace.

Rest in Peace, John Patrick.  I am a great niece of your mom's step father, Cal (Big) Abell.  The last time I saw you was at Third Avenue Cafe.  You were having lunch with your mom.  Peace.

John- You were my best friend growing up.  I was deeply saddened to hear of your passing and regret not ever getting a chance to know you as an adult.  I have spent today realizing how much a part of my life you were there on Maryland Avenue.  I wish you peace and hope that you are doing the moonwalk with Michael Jackson like we always talked about back in those days.

John,I knew you since around high school.  You and Matt were always my favorite of all of Seth's friends. You were kind, funny, thoughtful and articulate. The first time I met you (in my living room)-- you had on cargo pants & boots, were tanned & full of mosquito bites! You had just returned from a trip where you hiked and had the time of your life!I wish such a journey for you now.
I remember you as a loving son and brother and friend. Your illness took alot from you but it never extinguished the spark and the love that was you.
I will miss you and the gifts that you shared with all of us.

J.P. - Whether at Louisville Speakeasy/Sub Rosa or at Church on the Rocks, your twisting together of word and whim were deeply appreciated and will be deeply missed.  With just a few quick words strewn together, you had whole rooms of people laughing, and on occasion had them wondering if they even should be laughing when they did anyway.  Just like with any of our friends, I had looked forward to seeing you again... but now, I guess it's going to be a lot longer of a while than I had thought.  From one poet to another, blessings on your journey.

JP, you were a humorous poet and all around entertainer.  I wish we didn't lose you so soon.  Be at peace wherever you may be.

John Patrick - From the time you were an infant I have been so proud of you. My life has been enriched having you as a nephew.  Thank you for the wonderful memories over the years.  You are deeply missed.

JP -- Your boisterous laugh would always fill the table at Thanksgiving dinner and warm the air at Christmas parties.  Your creative energy is dearly missed.

John- Your smile and humor (especially in your poetry) were often the best part of a day. I am sure you will continue to share smiles and laughter wherever you are. It was an honor to work with you and I will miss you greatly

John Patrick:  You were such a fine young man.  I guess what really meant the most to me was seeing you substituting at Southern Middle and Newburg Middle and proudly informing the students you were with that I was your aunt.  You just looked so happy and care free. You will certainly be missed.  Pat, Cam, and Dortha - I can't imagine how you're coping.  I sincerely hope God can comfort you during this sad time.
