Skinner, Jerry L., 71, passed away December 7, 2017. He was an Army veteran, retired from GE after 32 years, a Kentucky Colonel and a UK fan. Jerry was also a former commander of AMVETS Post 61, a former volunteer firefighter as a battalion chief and EMT with the Okolona Fire Department.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom Skinner and James Skinner; and sisters, Connie Sly and Pat Sly.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 51 years, LaVerne Skinner; children, Shari Rowe (Steve) and Jerry Skinner Jr. (Lisa); grandchildren, Kevin, Christopher and Claire; siblings, Don Skinner (JoAnn), Tim Skinner (Kathy), Debbie Sly and Ralph Campbell (Bernadine); sister-in-law, Connie Skinner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Monday, December 11, 2017 at Evergreen Funeral Home Dignity Chapel at 12 pm with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Mount Washington. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 pm-8 pm and Monday from 10 am until the time of service, at the funeral home.
