James retired from the City of Louisville Fire Department after 20 years of service. He loved spending time at the lake and farm with his family and friends. He also liked to pass the time playing pool in the south end and hangout at his local watering hole. James had a big heart for animals but an even bigger heart for his family. He was known to be the protector and protected his family.
He is proceeded in death by his mother, Ruby Culver; father, James Wilkins; son, Mark Willett; and beloved fur baby, Bella.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Barbara Willett; children, Elizabeth Griffin (Adam), Timothy Willett (Jamie); grandchildren, Joel Willett (April), Courtney Willett, Emily Evans, Mallory Evans, Sydnie Boyle (Cam), Landon Willett, Breelyn Willett; great-grandchildren, Tyson, Amiyah, Hudson; siblings, Anne Bradley (John), Billy Willett (Debi), Mary Hardesty (Rick), Tommy Willett (Connie), Tammy Gillion, daughter in law Kimberly Willett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 1pm – 8pm with a funeral service at 3pm at Advantage Funeral Home – Hardy Chapel, 10907 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY 40272. Cremation is to follow.
A visitation for James will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Advantage Funeral Home - Hardy Chapel, Louisville, KY, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM.
