James William Simms, Jr. “Tipper”, 78 completed his long, courageous journey home on May 6th at home, surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, James W. Sr. and Matilda Lutz Simms and a sister Rosemary Sidebottom. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Bocock Simms, one daughter, Angie Brown (Gary) and two sons, James W. III (Linda) and Jerry (Paige) Simms, ten grandchildren and four great- grandchildren, a sister, Betsy Davis and a brother, Thomas Simms.
He was a graduate of the University of Louisville, a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and an avid Cardinal fan. He was retired from National Life Insurance Company/ American General. He worked the past 21 years as a tax consultant of H&R Block.
Visitation will be at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home 7710 Dixie Highway on May 9th from 2pm to 8pm.
The funeral mass will be held at St.Paul Catholic Church 6901 Dixie Highway on May 10th at 11:00 am. With burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
