James Frederick (Sonny) Simms

Sonny was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He served at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas.

He was an active member of Highview Baptist Church for 52 years. He retired from Swift and Company after 33 years of service. During retirement, he enjoyed travel and special times with family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Louise Simms; daughter, Michelle Hindman (Barry); granddaughter, Rebeccah Price (Austin); grandson, Joshua Hindman (Marissa); great-grandchildren, HudsonClay Price, Ella Louise Price and Parker James Hindman; sisters, Joy Campbell, Carol Skaggs (Dale), Diane Banker (Bruce); sister-in-law, Betty Boone; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by his parents; brothers,Donald and Kenneth A Simms; sisters, Janice Simms and Norma Carrier; brother-in-law, John M. Boone.

A service to celebrate James’s life will take place on Friday, October 14th at, 10 AM. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Thursday, October 13th at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road. He will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park following the service.

Donations in James’ honor can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Kylee Googe or WHAS Crusade for Children thru the Fern Creek Fire Dept. `
