Jim is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Gloria "Skippy" Ray, who he cherished and looked forward to being reunited.
He is survived by and was the loving father of, Jim Ray (Belinda), Debbie Meade (Glen), Ron Ray (Debbie), and Jennifer Powell (Chris), his 15 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored; brother, Mike Ray (Judy); and close family friend, Sarah Price.
Jim worked for over 30 years for Nelson Boone Company in Louisville, where he treasured his many friends and co-workers. He never met a stranger and was always the life of the party.
He was also a proud veteran and medal recipient of the Korean War.
Funeral service to honor the life of Jim will be 2pm on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Evergreen Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation for the public will be from 2-8pm on Monday and from 11am-2pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
