James Allen “Jamie” Harp Jr., age 67, passed away Wednesday, November 20th, 2024, surrounded by his daughters. A Louisville native, Jamie was born September 13, 1957, to the late James A and Barbara J. Harp. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two of his siblings, Debra A. Leake and Norman Patrick “Ricky” Harp.
Jamie is survived by his four daughters, Brandi Harp (Chris), Brooke Pearl (David Alex), Jamie Leigh Waltenburg (Shawn) and Molly Jo Harp (Trevor.) He is also survived by his grandchildren, Peyton and Nolan Hood, Jaxon Pucket, Colten Bohannon, Tyson and Haven Waltenburg; surviving siblings Theresa Armstrong and Jeff Daniel “Danny” Harp. He is also survived by a host of nieces and his favorite nephew, Josh Leake.
Jamie was a carpenter for much of his life and specialized in tile, granite and marble for the past 35 years. His hobbies included hiking, hunting for rocks, cat fishing, going to high school and UofL football games, and biking with his two younger children. He loved a good fish sandwich, a margarita and Cuban while betting the ponies. He could be found at Churchill on Thirsty Thursdays enjoying dollar beer and hotdogs. Jamie instilled a hard work ethic in all four of his girls and was proud to tell everyone about their accomplishments.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave. Burial will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, Nov. 25 and again from 12:00 PM until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
