He was born February 17, 1938 in Camden, TN the son of Hobert and Hazel Hargis. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter Sandra Gail Hargis.
James was a 1956 graduate of Big Sandy High School and attended Lambuth College in Jackson, TN.
He was a pipefitter and retired in 1997 from Ford Motor Company after 39 years of service. He was also an avid golfer, enjoyed travelling and loved U of L Basketball. He was proud to be a regular blood donor, having donated over 13 gallons.
James was a very loving, helping and generous man. He will be missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Delma Hargis; a daughter, Caryn MacDonald (Jim); two sons, Steve Hargis (Jennifer) and Mike Hargis; six grandchildren, Emily, Cassie, Ian, Daevid, Will and Carol; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters and 1 brother.
He never met a stranger, and will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 2-6 PM on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd. Burial will take place on Monday at Bakers Chapel Cemetery in Big Sandy, TN.
