Gerald Cleo Handley

Gerald Cleo Handley “Nighttrain” woke up in the arms of Jesus on November 15, 2024. Gerald was a kind, caring man who had many deep relationships with his family and friends. He became a mentor to many that crossed his path. A longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Gerald was a strong believer in Christ, he devoted much of his time to volunteer in the church, spreading God’s promises to anyone who would listen. Integrity welled from his soul. People were naturally drawn to Gerald; his kind soul, beautiful smile, and wise words made him very easy to talk to. His love and compassion for others were endless. He was never idle. He cherished his time with his family and friends; he truly was the core of his family. Gerald lived his life to the fullest, making the best out of everything life had to offer. He never missed an opportunity to go to the lake, go fishing, camping, and hunting. Gerald worked as a truck driver, was a member of the Moose lodge, was a Teamster, and attended weekly dances hosted by Kosair Charities. Gerald’s kindness, compassion, and selflessness will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Ethel Handley; first wife, Kaye Handley; last wife, Alberta Handley; son, Tiger Miller, and brother Benny Handley.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Cynthia Knight (Eric), Shelia Simpkins, Kathy McCane, and Beth Miller; grandchildren; Mason, Cooper, Kendra (Brian), Nolan (Kaitlyn), Haley (Eric), Bradey (Sarah), Austin (Jessie), Joseph (Taylor), and Caleb; great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Griffin, Jackson, Carrington, Lennon, Haiden, Lainey, Remington, Truitt, and Colt; sister, Sheila Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 12:30pm at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 5708 Preston Hwy. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00pm-8:00pm at Evergreen Funeral Home, and Saturday from 11:00am-12:00pm at the Church. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Gerald’s name can be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church.
