Gary Cockerill

Gary was born on December 10, 1965, to William and Mary Cockerill. Gary had a sweet tooth and enjoyed eating snacks. He enjoyed working on cars and had a knack for putting things together backwards, and was always up for a game of cornhole—though he rarely won. He loved his scratch-off tickets, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and Kentucky Wildcats, listening to Hank Williams, and spending time camping. Above all, he adored his Yorkie, Scooter, who rarely left his side.

Gary was preceded in death by his beloved son, Tyler Lee Cockerill, his father, William Everett Cockerill, and his brother, Kelly Wayne Cockerill.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Laurie Anne (Carlton) Cockerill; his children, Amanda Rae Cockerill (Daniel Johnson), Joshua Shane Cockerill (Holly), and Devin William Cockerill (Haley); and his cherished grandchildren, Brynn Elise Cockerill and Olivia Tyler Cockerill. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Cockerill; his siblings, Billy Cockerill, Larry Cockerill (twin), and Karen Ferguson Cockerill.

A visitation for Gary will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Advantage Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 10907 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, Kentucky 40272. A funeral will occur following visitation at 1:30 PM. Burial will take place after funeral, on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Bethany Memorial Cemetery, 10917 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272.
