Doris was born in Louisville, Ky and moved to Paducah, Ky at the age of five. Doris graduated from Reidland High School in Paducah, Ky in 1948. She was the Reidland High School Basketball Queen in her senior year of high school. She married Charles Fosberg in 1949 and they remained loving husband and wife for 74 years.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Ora and Willie Draffen, her sister Marie Duncan and nieces Brenda Waters and Pat Riley. Doris is survived by her husband, Charles Fosberg, her three children, Donna Fosberg (Jackie Lucas), Kathy Doyle, and Kevin Fosberg (Melissa). Sister, Joyce Bearden (Lee). Grandchildren Kyle Doyle (Ashley), Kelly Doyle, Brittany Fosberg Williams (Jeremy), and Christopher Heggedal. Great-grandchildren Madelyn Doyle, Hailey Doyle, Olivia Doyle and Everett Williams. Nieces Jennifer Ringstaff (Johnny), Saundra McDaniel, Karen Cordts (Russ) and Karen Duncan. Nephews Phil Hassell (Brenda), Perry Hassell, Ron Riley, Gary Waters, Kenny Garrett (Theresa) and Keith Duncan.
Doris was a retired Judicial Court Clerk in the Jefferson County Circuit Court offices. She dearly loved working in the Judicial Court system and made many lasting friendships while working there. The Jefferson County attorneys and judges considered Doris the Chief Court Clerk because of her excellent work ethics and all-around knowledge of policy and procedures required to perform the duties.
Doris loved to cook, garden, go for walks, read and especially camping in her and Charles’ 5th wheel RV. They were one of the first “snow birds” who would travel to Lakeland Florida every January and spend 3 months relaxing in the warm Florida weather.
Doris was a devout Christian, Sunday school teacher and performed many other services for her church. She was a long- time member of Valley View Baptist Church until her and her family’s move to the Jeffersontown area when she became a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and subsequently Ninth & O Baptist Church where she was a member until her death.
Funeral services will be held at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Ky 40218 on Monday, December 4, 2023. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11AM – 2:00PM with funeral service to follow at 2:00PM. Doris will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, Ky 40218.
