Delores Bain Elam

Delores was born August 26, 1935 in Georgetown, KY. She graduated from DuPont Manual High School in 1954, alongside her high school sweetheart, Charles “Sid” Elam. Delores retired from Naval Ordinance and went on to thoroughly enjoy retired life with Sid. The two made it a point to travel the world, making memories in places like Hawaii, Australia and the western part of the United States. For many years, Delores lived up to the title of “snowbird”, living in Florida for the winter, even working for 3 seasons at Walt Disney World. She was a Christian by faith and a member of Shively Baptist Church.

Delores is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sidney “Sid” Elam.

Left to tell the stories of the memories she made are her children Charles David Elam (Janet), Diane Elam Vaughn (Steve), Darlene Elam Bauer (Steve), and Denine Elam Rives (Wayne). Delores was also blessed with 12 grandchildren, Kendra Collins (Jeremy), Amie Elam, Shelley Abney (BJ), Shannon Reccius (Jeremy), Crystal Wilkinson (Greg), Emily Darnell (Garrett), Ethan Bauer (Hannah), Elise Bauer, Elijah Bauer (Hannah), Jessica Rives, Kyle Rives (Taylor) and Sidney “Cole” Rives (Alyssa). She also had 19 great-grandchildren, with 2 more great-grandchildren due in early 2025.

Visitation for Delores will be from 11AM-2PM on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Arch L. Heady At Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, KY 40218. A celebration of life will follow, at 2PM in the chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven.
