Michele, I am so very sorry to here about your son. My heart just breaks for you. You and your family are in my prayers!

I’ve been trying to think of something to say, and I truly have no words. The most difficult part about this is how unexpected it was. Dakota and I were friends since high school and since the moment I met him I knew he was something different. At that young age we all were, he seemed to have figured out what it all was he wanted to do with his life and as we all know none of it was small or at all simple. He was so driven and beyond motivated to achieve every single one of his goals. He believed in the path he was going to take to achieve them and nothing was going to stop him or slow him down. These are the qualities I found amazing in him but it wasn’t just that. Dakota was also a wonderful friend. He was reliable, loyal, and so caring. I can’t count the times he was there for me when I was at moment of uncertainty and sadness. He was unbelievably kind hearted. 
I will remember him in this way forever. He was taken from us way too soon, but I believe with my entire being that he has passed on to somewhere beautiful where he will be at peace and well taken care of. 

I have known Dakota for meany years from going to school or standing on the other side of the track watching him do motocross. I can honestly say he was an amazing person and a true friend. My heart hurts hearing this news and it hurts to say goodbye I will miss you buddy  

I am sorry I did not know Dakota. I have the honor to work with his Mother and know his Grandmother. I know he was a special person. Praying for comfort and some hope.

When Dakota ran his lawn care service, I called him for business. During our call I expressed that I was feeling tight on money and that I needed to make some changes. In response, he offered to teach me how to budget! After he finished his work at my house, we sat together on my front porch with a pencil and paper. He walked me through everything, and together we completely transformed my finances. The hour we spent together talking, laughing and learning helped me without end, and he never asked for anything in return.

I think back on this moment we shared frequently. This anecdote cannot do justice in speaking to his intelligence, resourcefulness and generosity. Dakota, you are a source of light, a rare soul and a true friend. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have met you and be your friend since middle school. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me.

Dakota and I got together in early 2019 for a night out in celebration of his birthday. We rarely got together but when we did it was always a fun time. He had such a lighthearted soul. That night I remember being really bummed about something. Thankfully, he was in high spirits. We went out to a club just up the road to dance. We admitted to each other that we weren't the club type, and if one of us was dancing the other had to dance as well. We drank, laughed a lot, and danced on the dance-floor without a care in the world. Just him and I out on the floor was a feeling of letting loose and not caring at all. It was truly rejuvenating. I wasn't so bummed anymore after that; his spirit was always contagious. I'm going to remember that night for a long time. I wish I had spent more time with him and I wish I had followed through with our plans to watch cartoons together. Dakota, I'll be thinking of you buddy. And next time I'm out dancing I'll imagine you right there next to me. 

Absolutely crazy that Dakota is gone, he'll be missed sorely. I remember one time at a party I was visibly anxious and he approached me and basically said "I get it". Not very often that someone does something like that. Definitely didn't fully appricate his capacity for empathy at the time. You could always tell with him that he felt a depth of emotion, and was more open about it than most. His spirit will continue on in the memories and actions of those he was closest to.

Dakota was a sweet spirit,  a gentle giant.  He will be sorely missed but never forgotten 💔. See you on the other side darlin. Aunt Dawn

Dakota was a kind young man who never had a bad word to say about anyone and always willing to help out. I will miss his smile, positive attitude, and sense of humor.  I am deeply saddened by the loss of Dakota, he will be missed at Kaman DC.

Dakota was such an incredibly intelligent, funny, and above all else, kind and empathetic guy. I always loved when I got to see him, especially when he would tell me about his dogs. Dakota was unbelievably motivated and could achieve anything he set his mind to, and anyone hearing him talk about his passions would immediately know that. 

I’ll never forget the time that he brought his motorcycle to my roommate and I’s fifth floor apartment or the time that we sat around watching Chris Hansen videos that he seemed to have an encyclopedic knowledge about. There was never a moment around Dakota where he wasn’t imparting some important knowledge or telling some hilarious joke. 

I’m so thankful for the time I got to spend with Dakota and my thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family. 

Michele:  I am so sorry for your loss of your dear Dakota.  Please let me know if I can do anythings to help you in this time.  I think and pray for you both often.  Every week I think of you and Dakota in my prayers at church during communion.  I have been doing this for years.  I love you and I want to be here for you at this time.  I will call you next week. Michele—-I have no words. Even though I only met Dakota one time, I have known you since childhood. My heart is aching for you. I know what the loss of a husband feels like but I can’t imagine a child!!!! Love you and reach out anytime. I can’t wait to give hugs again!!!

I drive for Averitt Express and Dakota shipped freight with us. I  saw him most every day.  An impressive young man and I am sorry for the loss. Always energetic and upbeat.  Prayers to the family and colleagues.  Troy 

My deepest sympathy goes out to Dakota's family, friends, and co-workers. I am so saddened this morning as I learned about the accident. I work in the building where Dakota worked these past few years. I recognized Dakota was a special individual. He and I always stopped to chat about haircuts and motorcycles. I am a motorcyclist myself and loved the hairstyles he sported so we had somethings in common to converse about. I loved how he was always changing things up. Definitely a champion of change. He was a very smart, sweet guy and, I enjoyed the many chats we had in the break room over the years. We, and I, will miss him dearly!!! God Bless and RIP Dakota!!
