Cyndy was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Matthew and Almeda (Ankesheiln) Ryan June 10, 1943. Her parents and she relocated to Louisville in 1960. She attended Sacred Heart Academy (Class of 1961) and met her husband Marty during their senior year.
Cyndy was a stewardess for Delta Airlines and traveled throughout the United States and Europe prior to marrying Marty Holahan. They were married on August 14, 1965, in her hometown of New Orleans, and made their home in Louisville.
While raising her two daughters, she was an active member of several organizations, including the Buechel Fern Creek Jaycee-ettes, Girls Scouts, St. Edwards Catholic Church, and later St. Margaret Mary Catholic Community. At St. Margaret Mary, Cyndy served as a Lecter and Eucharistic minister, among other parts of the ministry. She was made a Kentucky Colonel in 2000.
Professionally, Cyndy managed the day-to-day operations of The Holahan Company since its inception. In 1986, she used those management and accounting skills as a seasonal tax preparer for H & R Block. That reignited her passion for learning; she graduated from the University of Louisville in 1993 with a degree in Business Administration and was named to the Golden Key National Honors Society. She passed the CPA exam in 1994 in the top percentile. She joined DMLO in 1999 as a supervisor and was promoted to manager in 2004, where she finished her professional career.
Cyndy’s passion for travel continued, and she embarked on many tours to Europe, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, and throughout the United States with her husband and friends.
She leaves her daughters Tracy Zoeller and Terrie Holahan; her five grandchildren, Matthew, Paul, Rachel, Charlotte, and Sara Zoeller; her brother Ronald; several cousins; the Pinochle Family (Harold and Barbara Jones, Jim Seraphine, David and Sandra Johnson, and Norman Brown); and many friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Martin, and her parents Matthew and Almeda Ryan.
Visitation will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church (7813 Shelbyville Road, Lyndon, KY 40222) on Thursday, December 7 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by Mass. Inurnment will be at Resthaven Memorial Park on Bardstown Road at a later date. Arrangements were handled at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville.
