Creta Faye Merideth, 90, of Louisville passed away on Tuesday March 1, 2022. She was born on her family farm in southern Indiana on May 8, 1931, to George and Sarah (Sparks) Roney. She attended a one room school house from grades 1 thru 8, and graduated from high school in Salem, IN in 1948. After graduation she moved to Louisville with a girl friend to get a job. That is where she met the love of her life, Cliff Merideth fresh out of the Marine Corp. and was married for 59 years before his passing in 2010. They had a wonderful marriage, together they loved to camp, fish and travel a lot. Creta worked for Penney’s and then Greenups Belles and Brides for 18 years making veils and hats for brides and bridesmaids. She is survived by a daughter, Susan Howard (John); sons, Brad (Mary Ann) and Paul Merideth (Theresa); a sister, Bea Adams; 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Merideth will be held at noon on Tuesday in the Southern Chapel of Arch L. Heady & Son, 3601 Taylor Blvd with interment to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be on Monday from 2-8 pm. In Lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the American Red Cross or the National Children’s Leukemia Foundation.
