Charles Robert Lewis, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and sibling, passed away peacefully on May 13th, 2023, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born on February 4th, 1940, in Fairmount, Kentucky, to the late Joseph E. Lewis and Cleo H. Robinson.
Charles is survived by his loving daughter, Kathy Doelling, and her husband, Scott. He was a cherished grandfather to Benjamin (Samantha), Andrew (Allie), and Hope. His great-grandchild, Hattie Pryor, brought him immense joy. Charles is also survived by his sibling, JoAnn Fields, a nephew, and several nieces.
Preceding him in death was his devoted wife of 40 years, Laura Lewis, as well as his brothers Jerry and David Lewis. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved them.
Charles was known for his passion for golfing and fishing. He found great joy in spending his free time pursuing these hobbies and watching UK Basketball. Throughout his working years, he dedicated 37 years to CSX and L&N Railroad, leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues and the industry.
After retiring, Charles and his beloved wife Laura enjoyed traveling together, creating cherished memories.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the visitation, which will be held on Tuesday, June 6th, from noon until 2 p.m. at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, located at 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218. A funeral service honoring Charles' life will follow at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Resthaven Memorial Park following the service.
Charles Robert Lewis will be remembered for his warm heart, his dedication to his family, and his zest for life. May his loved ones find solace in the memories they shared together.
