He was born February 27, 1917 in Louisville to the late Charles M. and Katherine Lindig Keeling. He was a lifelong member of the old St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church at Brook St. and Broadway. Charles is a current member of the merged Bethel St. Paul Church. Charles graduated from Ahrens Trade School. He was retired from Roller Die and Forming Company after many years of service. Charles also worked at the old Army Ammunition Plant, Fehr's Brewery, and Ford Motor Company. He was a member of the National Model Railroaders Association - Division Eight and enjoyed building model trains and attending the conventions and meetings with all of his great friends.Charles was very active in the church's senior group and bible study. Charles is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ruth Heft Keeling, who passed away in 2007; his parents; and brother, Leslie Keeling. He is survived by his daughters, Carol Ruth Huffman and her husband Ron, and Barbara Jean Fisher and her husband Bill; 3 grandchildren, Kimberley Bayse, Chip Huffman (Ginger), and Chad Huffman; great-grandchildren, Jeremy Bayse, Jordyn Florkey (Ryan), McClaine and Monroe Huffman; great-great-grandchildren, Austin and Breylan Florkey and one on the way.Charles will be truly missed by all that loved and respected him, especially his nieces and nephews and his longtime friends and acquaintances. A funeral service will be held 2pm Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Evergreen Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-9pm on Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to Division Eight, MCR, NMRA, Depot Railroad Museum, or Bethel St. Paul Church.
