Carol Rosalyn Stephan

Carol was a devoted Catholic and had a servant’s heart. She was the embodiment of God’s commandment to “love your neighbor as yourself.” She also loved God’s creatures – loving animals and being loved by animals. But her greatest love was being a mother (and eventual grandmother and great-grandmother) and raising 5 amazing kids. There was nothing she couldn’t – or wouldn’t – do for them, filling every role imaginable from cook to barber to referee when necessary.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine Bondzio; brother Ronald Hayda; brother-in-law and Edward Bondzio; and sister-in-law Fran Hayda.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of over 64 years, Lawrence E. Stephan, Sr; children Laura Sturgeon (Brad), Edward Stephan (Cindy), Lawrence Stephan, Jr. (Colleen), Angie Deck (Steven), and Mark Stephan (Nicole); grandchildren Robert Sturgeon (Amy), Katlin Mize (Andrew), Aaron Coomer (Brittney), Heather Kent, Jesse Doninger (Tifanie), Holly Blacker (Jed), Alexandra Stephan, and Taylor Stephan; great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Carter, Kailey, Blake, Claire, Emma, Mabel, Etta, Autumn, Alazia, Olivia, Araya, Rylee, Reece, Vylette, and Oliver; and numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 2-8pm at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home – Okolona located at 8519 Preston Hwy, Louisville, KY 40219. Funeral service will be held Friday, July 22, 2022 at 10 am at the funeral home.

Memorial donations in Carol's honor should be directed to the Kentucky Humane Society.
