She was born October 21, 1939. Betty enjoyed playing the piano, bowling, going to movies with friends, going on walks with Ralph and Bree, and making chocolate candies. She had a passion for tennis and was able to play up to age 77. She was a kind and sincere person who enjoyed helping others.
She was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church and was a secretary by trade graduating from Ahrens Trade High School. She retired from Xerox after 25years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Curran, Louise Scharfenberger Curran and 4 siblings: Ramona Barger, Charles, Danny and Jerry Curran. The father of her children, Charles Beck, also preceded her in passing.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Ralph Yoakum; two children, Debbie Childress (Wade) and Randy Beck (Kendri); Brothers- Raymond “Bo” Curran (Margie) and Teddy Curran, Sister- Pat Sizemore (Jim); four grandchildren, Brad Beck (Nicol) Leslie Lintelman, Lauren Paulley (David), Travis Lintelman (Andrea); 8 great grandchildren; beloved dog, Bree; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday September 25, 2022 from 11 AM- 2PM with a celebration of Betty’s life to follow at 2PM in the funeral home chapel. All services will be held at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, KY 40218.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her memory can be made to Hosparus, Alzheimer’s Association or the Oldham County Humane Society.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the caregivers with Hosparus along with Dana. In addition, special gratitude to Ralph for having such patience and kindness taking great care of her around the clock.
