Betty was a proud mother and even prouder grandmother of many grandchildren. Betty retired from Humana after more than 20 years of service. She loved playing cards and enjoyed hosting a monthly card game for her friends. Betty was a parishioner at St. Athanasius.
She is preceded in death by her late husband; Carl Lloyd Schafer. Her parents; Harlan and Willie Mae Hawthorne, sister; Sandra, grandchild; Krista Wagner, nephew; Jeff Coombs and her beloved Bischon Frise, Charlie.
Left to cherish Betty’s memory are her children; Mark Wagner (Robin), Kirk Wagner (Thy), Kim Culver (Steve), Diane Campbell (Randy), Susan Schafer Horn (Jack), her daddy; Tom Pinkston, brothers; Billy Pinkston and Steve Pinkston and her 7 beloved grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate Betty's life will be conducted at 12 noon on Friday, January 12, 2018 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Rd. with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 2-8pm on Thursday, January 11, 2018.
