Born May 20, 1947 to the late Walter Stanfield and Nan Monfort, of Louisville, Kentucky. Barry ended a long, hard fought battle with ALS peacefully, at home with family on November 2, 2020. Survived by a loving wife of 53 years, Deborah Jo Stanfield (Sheeley) and sons, Darin Stanfield (Melissa) and Jeremy Stanfield; and three adored granddaughters, Hannah Davis (Jake), McKenzie Stanfield and Olivia Stanfield (Hunter Collins); all of whom were his true pride and joy. His family was his greatest love in life!
A graduate of Pleasure Ridge Park High School in 1965 and played trombone in the pep band. Barry served 1 tour in Vietnam (Army) from 1967-69, as a radar systems technician and received two bronze stars, while serving his country. His career span of 42 years with Ware, Inc. included multiple job titles and lasted three generations of ownership. His work friends were truly a second family to him.
Preceded his passing were a brother, Scott Wilson (Nute); and sisters, Wanda Mooney, Gayle Polickii, Janie Sturms and Diane Sturms.
He is survived by sister, JoAnn Kelton (husband – Liston); brothers, Paul Gibbs (Ellie) and Bobby Sturms; brother-in-law, Ronnie Sheeley (Margaret); cousins, Deborah Weatherholt and Alden Gibbons, Jr. (Denise). Also surviving Barry were numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Due to the pandemic gathering restrictions, a private service will be held Saturday, Dec. 12th at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy, Louisville Ky. 40258. Barry will be laid to rest at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, Ky. Charitable donations in Barry’s honor can be made to the ALS Association Kentucky Chapter.
