Barbara J. Lemmon, 76, passed away following a short, but fierce battle with Leukemia (AML) on Monday, April 30th, surrounded by her family and many friends. She remains a bright light in the hearts of her loved ones.
Originally born in Coatesville, PA, Barbara’s world was ever expanding as her love for learning and her zeal for the arts drew her further and further into the life she loved. As a graduate of Smith College and a loyal patron of Walden Theatre, Actors Theatre, and Louisville Orchestra and the Speed Museum; she was known by artists in all walks of life as a friend and supporter.
She lived for adventure—her hunger for learning stretched out into every part of her life. In celebration of her 75th birthday, she set out on a hiking tour of Glacier National Park; of the hiking trails, she told us there was always a hard path, an easy path, and a medium one—she was proud that she never took the easy path.
Her work as a TSA agent held a special place in her heart, as well, making friends traveling far and wide, as well as with the coworkers she was honored to call close companions.
She is survived by her sister Joanne Taylor of Mechanicsburg, PA, son Robert Toczek (Jane), daughter Sonya Brown (David), and grandchildren Everett, Olivia, Ciaran, and Hayden; as well as granddog Lilly, great-granddog Luna, and great-grandbirds Kimba, Pickle, and Peach. They all love and miss her a whole barking lot.
Services will be held at 4pm Sunday, May 6th at Highland Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barbara Jane Lemmon Memorial Arts Fund at PNC Bank.
