Barbara J. Howell

Barbara J. Howell, 84 passed away at her home on Thursday, June 1, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on December 23, 1938 to the late Charles Little and Bessie Hall.

Barbara married the love of her life Charles Howell in 1954. She went on to have four children, Skip, Crystal, Jill, and Tom. She loved kids and dedicated her life to being a wonderful caregiver for all. She always made sure everyone was taken care of and put everyone above herself.

Barbara loved to bowl and was the secretary of her bowling league for many years. She also loved to travel. Barbara was feisty and full of energy. When she was no longer able to drive, she would walk miles every day. She was a signature figure around the neighborhood, and everyone watched out for her.

Barbara is preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Charles Howell, her parents Charles and Bessie Little, Sister, Patricia Dante, Son Charles “Skip” Howell and Son-in law Donnie Tapp.

Barbara is survived by her loving children: Crystal Tapp, Jillian Howell, and Brett “Tom” Howell (Shannon). Sisters: Norma Hardin and Bonita Frantz. Grand Children: Bridgit, Brian, Brandy, Brittany, Ashley, Brooke, Audrey, Jessie, Lindsey, Melanie, Brittanie, and Brooklyn. Great-Grand Children: Bill Bill, James, Kynlee, Tristin, Jadyn, Kyleigh, Emmy, Anthony, Andrew, Adell, and Trey. Great-Great Grand Children: Kenzie, Layla, and Emery.

A visitation for Barbara will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40218. A funeral service will occur Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven.

Barbara will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218.
