Anna Lee Childs, 77, Louisville, passed away on Saturday, May 01, 2010 at Norton Suburban Hospital, Louisville. A native of Shelbyville, she was the oldest of four children of the late Carl and Pauline Beach Thomas.
Anna Lee was a caregiver throughout her lifetime and worked for numerous families in Shelbyville and Louisville, KY, and Michigan. In her earlier years, she worked at Claudia Sanders Dinner House in Shelbyville and at Wakefield-Scearce Gallery & Science Hill Inn in Shelbyville. She was known for cooking her corn pudding and hot water cornbread. She spent most of her time raising her children and the children of many of her employers.
In addition, Anna Lee was a licensed Certified Medication Technician and worked for many years in various nursing homes throughout Shelbyville and Frankfort. Anna Lee was a member of the 1948 graduating class of Lincoln Institute and attended Paducah Trade School. She was a faithful member of Clay Street Baptist Church and a life-long member of the Amanda Smith Circle Missionary Society.
In addition to her two late husbands, parents and brothers, one son, Ben A Childs, Jr., preceded her in death.
Survivors include children, Carol A. Childs of Henderson, NC, David L. Childs (Bonnie) of Frankfort, Jo Ann C. James (Vincent) of Prospect, William D. Childs of Paducah, and Wayne S. Wooten of Taylorsville; one sister, Margaret Murphy of Shelbyville; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 1p.m. at Clay Street Baptist Church with visitation 5-8p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Rev. Ronald L. Holder will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
