Allan “Keith” Brown, 84, passed away peacefully in his home on October 28, 2022. Keith was preceded in death by his parents Allen E Brown and Thelma E Brown. Keith is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Barbara Brown (Ladusaw), his son Michael A Brown (Judy), two wonderful granddaughters that he adored, Michelle Knight (Kevin) and Rachel Cook (Keith), and five extra wonderful great grandchildren, Olivia and Jayce Knight and Brody, Ella and Addalynn Cook. Keith is also survived by his brother Terrance Brown (Donita) and 6 nieces and nephews.
Keith was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, attended St. Elizabeth grade school, graduated from Flaget High School and attended Bellarmine College. He started helping his uncle Johnny Hoffman in the produce business after school and on weekends. Upon graduation, he continued, what would be his entire career in the produce profession, first with Hill and Sloan for 22 years and in 1978 he became Owner and Operator of Hill and Sloan for the next 22 years at which time he decided to retire. If anyone knew Keith, they knew he could just not quit, so he returned for another career at Stanley Brothers Produce where he was still currently employed.
In his early years Keith was an outstanding baseball player and also hustled pool (one of the best). Once married, he continued to play softball up until his mid 40’s. Once grandchildren came along he was overjoyed and life started all over again for Keith. He would go to dance recitals, t-ball and softball games, cheerleading competitions, taking the granddaughters on trips and everything in between. The family got together all the time (Birthdays, Holidays, Sundays and “just because days”) as family meant everything to him. He looked forward to spending time with his granddaughters every month for their special Sunday brunches. Keith enjoyed traveling with his wife Barbara and their two best friends Carl and Linda Bowling who have been friends for over 33 years.
To know Keith was something special. He never met a stranger and treated everyone like they were the only ones in the room. His sense of humor was like no other. His jokes, stories to the grandchildren and great grandchildren will be forever etched in their hearts.
