Adelina C. Biagtan, M.D. 81, of Louisville, KY, entered eternal rest on March 23, 2018, at Palliative Care Unit of Baptist Hospital. Born in the Philippines and graduated from medical school there, she, her husband and her four children emigrated to the U.S. in 1969.
She leaves behind her husband of more than 56 years, Jesús; her children, Sarah Lamkin (Kevin), Thomas, Emmanuel (Elsie), and Anne Marie Young; grandchildren, Simone and Olivia Young, William and Samantha Lamkin, and Abigail Biagtan. Adelina is also survived by her siblings, Teresita C. Chan, Martin Calaunan, Jr., Urduja C. Perez, Danio Calaunan, Lisa C. Aquino and Marfel Calaunan.
Adelina retired in private medical solo practice in 1998, and continued to maintain her Kentucky and Indiana licenses. She was a Fellow and life member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Academy of Family Physicians, Kentucky Chapter; and during their 59th Annual Scientific Assembly, was honored and awarded for her 50 years as a medical graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. She was board certified Diplomate by the American Board of Family Practice in 1978. Her memberships included the University of Santo Tomas Medical Alumni Association (USTMAA), the American College of International Physicians, Kentucky Chapter (ACIP), the Filipino American Military Medical Officers Society (FAMMOS), the Filipino-American Heritage Association (FAHA), and Fil-Am Society of K Y & Southern IN. She was a Catholic by faith and a member of St. Bartholomew Church since 1974, when her family moved to Louisville.
Adelina also served with the 5010th U.S. Army Hospital division as a Major in Army Reserve at Bowman Field and honorably discharged in 1995.
