She courageously endured multiple serious, painful and debilitating illnesses for well over a decade. Her intense and unwavering faith in God sustained and comforted her throughout. Her courage, determination and faith were inspirational.
Throughout her life, Jennifer was spirited, always smiling and laughing and enjoyed being with friends and family. She loved working with children and was a parks and recreation counselor. The joy of her life was her son Jamir.
Jennifer was born in Pasadena, California and was adopted by her parents Philip and Christina Bailey at three months old. She attended school in San Luis Obispo graduating from San Luis High where she was a member of the swim team and concert choir. She was a member of the San Luis Obispo Seahawks Swim Team from elementary school through high school. As an adult Jennifer was committed to exercise and especially liked jogging which she missed immensely as her illnesses progressed to where her mobility was seriously limited.
She continued her love of singing as a member of the choir at the Jubilee Christian Center in San Jose. The choir won a regional How Sweet the Sound gospel competition in Oakland and advanced to the national competition in Atlanta, Georgia.
Jennifer was active in Girl Scouts into her teens and earned the Silver Scout Award, the second highest award in Girl Scouting (earned by only 10 percent of Girl Scouts). She starred in national television commercials commemorating the 75th anniversary of Girl Scouts in America when she was 15 and attended Girl Scout camps in the summers. She loved traveling the country each summer with her family and made “friends for life” each time camping in national parks.
Jennifer is survived by her son Jamir Pitts and his father Robert; her father Philip Bailey; her sister Kristi and her brothers Karl and Michael. She deeply missed her mother, Christina Bailey, who passed away in 2020 during the Covid pandemic.
