Services for William Riley “Bill” White, 80, of Liberty City, formerly of Longview, will be held January 31, 2011 at Lakeview Funeral Home at 2pm. Visitation will be January 30 at Lakeview Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm. Bill went to be with the Lord January 28, 2011.
William Riley “Bill” White was born June 15, 1930 in Houston, MO to Ethel Elizabeth Bridges and Carl Jahu White. He was a graduate of Houston High School in Houston, MO as well as co-captain of the football team.
Bill married Ann Jeanette Beard on June 30, 1950. To this union was born three sons and two daughters. Bill and Jeanette moved to Texas in 1960 and opened a shoe store in Longview named “Uncle Bill’s Shoe Barn” later known as “Dryer’s Shoe Store”. In 1976 Bill closed the shoe store and went to work for Brown and Root as a pipe fitter and retired January 1992. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Liberty City. After retirement he became a golfing enthusiast. He enjoyed fishing with his longtime friend John P. Campbell, watching Dallas Cowboys, wood working, and gardening.
Left to cherish Bill’s memories are his wife of sixty years Jeanette White of Liberty City, TX; his children, Wil White and spouse Suzi of Longview, Don White and spouse Mary of Longview, Greg White and spouse Vicky of Longview, Patty Jesters and spouse Mike of Kilgore and Debbie Phillips of Longview. Bill had eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren; his siblings are Jack Jahu White of Houston, MO, Paul Garner White of Coffeyville, KS and Bonnie Jo Miles of Rolla, MO and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two half-brothers Eugene Watson of Houston, MO and Dick White of Stillwater, OK
Pallbearers will be Tyson Mabry, William Pugliese, Rob Holloway, James White, Nick White and Blake Jesters.
