Mary Elizabeth Morris from Longview, Texas entered into eternal peace with the Lord on Sunday December 20th in Little Elm, Texas in the company of her loving daughters. She was 94 years old. Mary Elizabeth was born in Gurdon, Arkansas to parents Harvey Andrew and Ruby Elizabeth Graves. Mary is survived by her five daughters, Linda Darlene McMaster of Longview, Tx., Joy Lee Couch of Little Elm, Tx., Carolyn Ann Allen and husband Marion of Little Elm, Tx., Konnie Kay Thomas and husband John of Pearland, Tx., and DanNita Coble and husband Don of Pottsboro, Tx. In addition, Mary leaves behind eight grandchildren: John Lloyd McMaster, Greg Couch, Sondra Shipp, Patrick Pollak, Michael Pollak, Jason Ashcroft, Joshua Ashcroft and Krystal Young. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Mary placed her faith in God at the center of her remarkable life and raised her children to love and trust in God. She was a faithful lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Longview where she was baptized in high school. She was involved in the Blue Birds, Campfire and Brownie classes for young girls when her daughters were young. Her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ sustained her throughout her life. Mary was always so grateful for having her church family and friends. She was a beautiful, dignified and charming lady with a great sense of humor.
Mary enjoyed her activities in the community which were many. By being a member of Toastmasters for several years, she became a very confident and eloquent speaker as well as expressing herself in her writings. She was quite the poet. Mary was also involved in the singing group, “Long-View Chapter of Sweet Adeline” national organization of Longview, Texas in which she traveled extensively. Mary served as a member of Longview Chamber of Commerce, member of ABWA and an enrichment member of the Great Books discussions. Mary also was a representative for “Welcome Wagon Newcomers” association for Longview and the surrounding area. She was a “red-hatter” and enjoyed giving tea parties. She was involved in many charity events within the community. Mary loved meeting new people and treasured the friendships she had gained in her life in everything she did. She touched so many people and will be greatly missed. Most of all, she loved her family dearly and was always so excited when they came home to visit.
A visitation is scheduled two hours prior to the funeral service from 12:00 to 2:00pm Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 West Harrison Rd., Longview, Texas 75604 (903) 759-9493. The funeral service will follow immediately at 2:00. Pastor David English from First Baptist Church of Longview, Texas will officiate the funeral service. The family has requested a private graveside service.
