She was born on February 6, 1940 in Monahans, Texas to Inagene and L Paul Smith. She lived most of her life in Longview, Texas where she graduated from Pine Tree High School in 1958, where she was a varsity cheerleader, a member of the Drama Club and tennis team. Her classmates have fond memories of her and have remained lifelong friends. She married Robert A. Berry in 1960 and they had three children, Melanie, Holly and Owen. She went on to become co-owner of Glo,Inc. in Longview with her three brothers, Gene, Phil and Steve. She enjoyed singing in the Longview Chapter of the Sweet Adelines and that is where she met James L. Bullard whom she married in 1981 and expanded her family with four additional children, Brent, Mark, Betsy and Mary Lynn. After retirement she and Roy moved to Mineola, Texas and began a life of leisure, traveling to Colorado visiting Roy's parents and traveling the country visiting family and friends and meeting new family members discovered through their love of genealogy. She loved to shop for antiques and collect items from family estates. She also was not hesitant to dig for old bottles in burn piles or trash heaps at old family farms or even the historic city dump of Virginia City, NV. She enjoyed planning holidays, birthdays and family reunions because she loved family gatherings. She and Roy would crack and hull pecans and can jellies and jams to add to their children's Christmas presents every year. She was married to Roy until his death in 2018.
