Larry Proctor Short

Larry Proctor Short, a loving husband and father, passed away October 8, 2024 at Longview Regional Hospital. He was born May 24, 1957 in Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Short, his mother, Joyce Short, and his twin brother, Garry Short. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Short; son, James Short and his fiancée, Kylie Tee; daughters, Amy Fagan and her husband Greg Hurst, Victoria Awbrey and her husband Michael Awbrey; grandchildren, Samuel, Rachael, and Anna; sister, Cindy Kelley and her husband Larry Kelley; niece, Karen Fuller, and nephew, Kevin Kelley.

Larry graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and was an avid Longhorn fan (Hook ‘em Horns). He retired in 2020 from Halliburton in Kilgore, Texas. He worked as a Field Employee Development Coordinator, where he trained and mentored new commercial drivers.

He enjoyed the outdoors, including camping and fishing on the lakes in East Texas. He also loved watching the Cowboys play football. He was a lifetime member of the Pine Tree Masonic Lodge #1396.

Larry always had a big presence without saying much; being so tall probably helped.
