Clara Jolene Alvarez, 80, of Tyler, Texas passed away on June 19, 2024. She was born on October 29, 1943 in Gladewater, Texas to Joel Edgar Foster and Clara Mae Barnett Foster. She graduated from Sabine High School in 1961 and continued her education for her career with South Western Bell/AT&T. She worked as a Directory Operator Supervisor and retired after 36 successful years with the company. Jolene married Louis Alvarez in 1981 with whom she shared a life with for the next 43 years along with their 6 children.
Jolene was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindale, Texas and St Mary Magdalene in Flint, Texas. She was an avid member, serving in the Knights of Columbus as a Lady Knight and she participated in the choir. She belonged to a Horse Club and in her free time she enjoyed puzzle books, watching baseball, and appreciating those around her.
Jolene is preceded in death by her parents, Joel and Clara Foster; sister, Jimmie Cairnes; and grandson, Timothy Robledo.
Jolene is survived by her husband, Louis Alvarez; children, Angie Smith, Patricia Reyes, Diane Morales, Louis Andrew Alvarez, Michael Alvarez, and step-daughter Karen Green; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and her brother, Bill Foster.
Serving as Pallbearers are Matthew Reyes, Marcus Reyes, Patrick Reyes, David Morales Jr, Christopher Cardenas, Guy Guren, and Honorary Pallbearer David Morales.
A time of visitation will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm followed by a Rosary at Holy Family Catholic Church in the Parish Hall. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 12:00pm at Holy Family Catholic Church, 16314 FM 849 Lindale, TX 75771
