Funeral services for Helen Ruth Brantley will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Lakeview Funeral Home. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Brantley was born February 22, 1941, in Evans, Louisiana, to Kenney and Ethel Smith Craft, and passed away February 28, 2016, in Plano, Texas.
Helen was a home maker, a career that started August 6, 1960, when she married the love of her life, Kennon Brantley. She was also very “well known” at the boats in Shreveport. She would wear her little red cowboy hat and ride her power chair through the aisles and people would always call her out by name, welcoming Mrs. Helen as she made her way to her favorite machines or tables. Helen also loved to ride on the back of Kennon's Harley, or ride in the jet boat they once owned. She loved to fish, and play basketball and would take every opportunity to play, but most of all she loved her family.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Ella Mae Hinson; Ruby Mincher; Ilene Williams; and Marie Conklin, and her brother, S. C. Craft.. She is survived by her loving husband of over fifty-five years, Kennon Brantley; son, Randy Brantley; daughter, Sheri Pope; son, Steve Brantley; Six grandchildren; Seven great grandchildren; brothers, Kenny Craft and Billy Craft. The family will receive friends, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Lakeview Funeral Home.
