Geraldine Pipsaire Moody, (Gerry), age 98, of Birmingham, Alabama, peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024. She was born to Joseph and Katherine Pipsaire on October 6, 1926, in Smackover, Arkansas. Gerry attended the University of Texas where she received a degree in Home Economics.
She married her high school sweetheart, James Hamilton Moody, Jr. (Jimmy) and shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. During this time, they lived in many places as his career progressed, including Shreveport, La, Longview, Tx, St. Louis, MO, Tallahassee, FL, Nashville, TN, Little Rock, AR, and New Orleans, LA. At one time, the two of them enjoyed owning a children's shop in Longview, while raising and taking care of their family. They took many family trips, often joining her sister's family at the lake in Heber Springs, AR. As empty-nesters, Gerry and Jimmy enjoyed many trips abroad. Amazingly she was a breast cancer survivor of 45 years.
Gerry had many talents and sewing was most definitely one of them. It would bring her much joy to be able to create quilts for her grandchildren and pass along sewing tips to others. In her later years she created many quilts, winning ribbons in shows she attended.
Gerry's love for her family will not be forgotten. Her children have said she "set the bar high" with her graciousness, patience and sweet demeanor. Her family, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, have brought her much joy and laughter throughout the years. Gerry cherished every graduation and wedding she was able to attend. She will be remembered as a kind, loving parent, friend and true believer in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
Gerry was predeceased by her loving husband, James Hamilton Moody Jr (Jimmy); her parents, Joseph and Katherine Pipsaire; her sisters, Mary Black (Ted) and Ruby Miles (Sam); and nephews Sam Miles and Rob Black.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, children, Cynthia Dianne Moody Wheeler (Harris) and James Hamilton Moody, III (Karen); grandchildren, Aaron Joseph Wheeler, Paul Harris Wheeler (Cortney), Jason Patrick Moody (Julia), Landen Ashley Moody Tauscher (Jake), James Scott Moody (Alexis); great-grandchildren, Scott McDonald Moody, Noa Jane Tauscher, Amelia Evelyn Wheeler and Zoe Anne Tauscher; nieces Katherine Miles and Charlotte Foley; and nephew Bruce Black
A celebration of her life service will be held on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024 at 2:00pm at Lakeview Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery 601 W. Marshall Ave. Longview, Texas 75604
