Funeral services for Herman Chandler, 82, of Longview, will be at 2pm at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home with Robert Fry officiating. A time of visitation with his family will start at 1:00 p.m. until the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Herman went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning peacefully in his home with his wife by his side.
Herman was born January 23, 1936, in Water Valley, Mississippi to Melvin and Jenny Kate Chandler. He was the youngest of eight children with four brothers and three sisters. Herman married the love of his life, Barbara, on November 3, 1993 and his feet never touched the ground. He was a lifelong Christian and had a love of Gospel music as a guitarist and vocalist for the family’s band, the Sabine Valley Singers. Herman worked over forty years in the roofing industry and was the proprietor of Sabine Valley Roofing. In retirement he serviced the Lake Cherokee and Longview area with his lawn care service and he never met a stranger.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 25 years, Barbara Chandler of Longview; his son Charles Cooper and his wife Deb; his daughter Debbie Chapman and her husband Randy; his daughter Darla Moraw and her husband Ray; his daughter Tammy Jernigan and her husband Kenny; his son Todd Sutherland and his wife Sarah; his son Russell Chandler and his wife Tobi; his daughter Sheila Small and her husband Tom; his son Jeff Chandler; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Elaine Chandler.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to those who cared for Herman, Donna Tenner RN, Kathrine Henderson, Anita Emmel, Robert Fry, Valari Davis, and staff at Angel Care Hospice of Henderson for all of their loving care, tolerance, and patience!
