William Edward Cronin III was born on September 21, 1949 in Salem, Massachusetts to William Edward Cronin Jr. and Eileen Cronin. He grew up in Lynnfield, Massachusetts and attended St. John’s Preparatory School, Norwich University, Bryant and Stratton Business School and Colorado State University.
He married his best friend and love of his life, Judy Cronin on November 25th 1972, and moved to Colorado shortly after to attend CSU with an interest in becoming a forest ranger. He joined the Larimer County Search and Rescue team and Forest Fire crews. He also worked at the CSU dairy for several years before making a career out of dairying. He worked at Aurora Organic Dairy in Platteville for 35 years where he and Judy raised their two children, Will and Erin. Bill cherished and loved his family above all else.
Bill touched so many peoples’ lives in so many ways. He was the most loyal and supportive friend, you could ask for and helped friends and strangers alike without hesitation. He was loved by so many people and will be so dearly missed. Bill always found great joy in bringing laughter and happiness to everyone, even through the most challenging times, especially during his fight against cancer. His sharp wit and humor made him an amazing entertainer while joking around and telling his unbelievable (but true) stories. Every St. Patrick’s Day was spent celebrating with his friends, regaling them with the history of Ireland and St. Patrick.
He found peace and joy in the great outdoors and cherished his annual big game hunting trips with his son, his brother Jim, and many hunting buddies. He also enjoyed playing golf, fishing, camping, and exploring new places, especially in the mountains. Bill was a history buff at heart and loved to learn. He possessed a wealth of knowledge and enjoyed debating and sharing that knowledge.
Bill passed away on July 4th, 2021, at the age of 71, after fighting a very long and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Judy Cronin; son William E. Cronin IV, his wife Cortney, their children, Violet Capri and William E. Cronin V; daughter Erin Zimmerman, her husband Shawn and their two children, Logan and Jacob; and his brothers Jim Cronin and Ron Cronin, and sisters. Bill was preceded in death by his parents William E. Cronin Jr. and Eileen Cronin.
There will be a Memorial service for William, on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:00 am, at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry Street Longmont, CO.
