Virginia was born March 14, 1928 in Johnstown, CO to Dr. Roy M. and Lillian M. Gorder, who both preceded her in death. After moving from Johnstown to Longmont in the 1930’s, Virginia graduated from Longmont High School in 1945 where she met Robert “Sully” Sullivan. They married in 1948. Sully proceeded Ginger in death on March 2, 1990.
Virginia was a outstanding mom to her four children, Dr. R. Craig Sullivan who passed away in 1999; Lynn Sullivan who passed away in 2021, Kim Bonner who is living in Steamboat Springs, CO with her husband Dan and Mike Sullivan married to Mary and living in Keller, TX. She was also grandmother to eight grandchildren, Heather Kolstad, Erika Kolstad who passed away in 2021, Brad Bonner who passed away in 2011, Jace Bonner, Eric Bonner, Krista Kenawell, Brianna Kitch and Nicholas Sullivan. In addition to her children and grandchildren, see was a great grandmother to six.
As her children grew, Ginger began devoting more time to her passion of reading and books. She was an employee of the Longmont Public Library for many years and then a volunteer for that same Library that gave her so much joy throughout her life. In her hours outside of her family and Library, she had many friends, both from her school years as well as others from her adult career at the library.
Other surviving members of Ginger’s family include her niece Jacqueline Cale and her family, her second cousin Donna Bresee, as well as several other second and third cousins.
A Celebration of Life was held for Virginia on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont, CO.
